The cafe is conveniently located at 〒605-0981 Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward, Honmachi, 1 Chome−48, on the second floor of the Honmachi building. Just bring cash, as Windy operates on a cash-only basis, ensuring a worry-free escape from the hustle of modern payment methods.

Windy is not just a coffee shop; it's an experience meticulously crafted by a delightful older couple whose passion for coffee shines through every cup. The owners create an inviting atmosphere where time seems to slow down, allowing you to savor each moment. As you step inside, the warm and cozy setting envelops you, making it the perfect place to unwind with a book or enjoy quiet conversation.

The menu is simple yet extraordinary, focusing exclusively on coffee. Among their offerings, you must try the カリカリ珈琲アイス, a delightful coffee ice cream delicately dusted with coffee powder. This unique dessert is a delightful surprise that elevates your coffee experience to new heights, blending rich flavors in a refreshing way that perfectly complements your chosen brew.

Windy’s coffee selection is diverse, with a variety of strengths and brewing methods, primarily centering around handcrafted pour-overs. Customers rave about the light and aromatic profiles of the coffee, appreciating the absence of bitterness often found in other brews. Riley Blue found the ambiance comforting yet initially intimidating due to the quietness of the café but was quickly put at ease by the owners' warm hospitality.

Other patrons, like Alyssa Beasley and Shue Ling, have praised the skilled preparation and the dedication demonstrated by the couple throughout their coffee-making process. They are not just baristas; they are artisans passionate about their craft, willing to share stories and insights about coffee with anyone willing to engage, a sentiment echoed by many who have entered their inviting space.

Moreover, the cafe's policy of order-per-customer showcases their commitment to quality over quantity. As noted by Esmonde Tan, each cup of coffee is brewed individually, guaranteeing a fresh and flavorful result. This attention to detail creates a memorable coffee-drinking experience that is far from ordinary.

Windy is more than a place for coffee; it’s a sanctuary where the art of brewing is cherished. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, Windy invites you to embrace the simple joy of a well-crafted cup of coffee, surrounded by a friendly atmosphere that feels like home. I came wanting a classic cafe and it did not disappoint. They only serve coffee, no food, and it’s cash only, but there are a few coffee options. I got the recommended blend which was prepared as a pour over. It was good. Not as bitter as other coffee I’ve had in Japan. The shop is run by a sweet older couple and as I was the only person there at the time was really quiet, which felt intimidating but was a nice moment of peace amidst the chaos of being in Kyoto. I would recommend visiting if you are staying in the area.

A quiet, cosy and delightful coffee spot. The owners are very friendly and serve expertly made coffee. There is a large selection of coffee type and strength, predominantly filtered. Amazing!

A cosy cafe tucked in a quiet corner. Initially quiet at first and meticulously preparing the coffee, the old couple opened up when my friend and I tried to speak with our limited Japanese and asked them about the history of the cafe. They are really friendly and passionate about coffee making. The coffee is light and aromatic, not acidic at all. I salute their efforts in making every cup of coffee for every customer. The rustic vibe is lovely and I will definitely visit when I come to Kyoto again. Do take some time to savour each cup of coffee instead of sipping it in a rush if you get to be there (:

Great atmosphere and coffee. It is a lovely Japanese coffee shop with cute cups. Staff is super friendly. Electronics shouldn’t be used inside the shop and its cash only.

A true hidden gem! Absolutely loved the hospitality of the owner couple. Like all coffee shops, you have to order a cup of coffee each and loved how they not have a 2nd menu to be unlocked only after you finish the first cup. The coffee were hand brewed one by one so you can expect it to be freshly brewed. The coffee desserts were a great surprise as well! Definitely recommend their coffee liquor dessert! The owner told us it took a week of fermentation to get that amazing flavor!!

We took our time to enjoy the coffee. The house/origin blend is delicious and not at all bitter. We hope to visit again.

Great coffee with a great atmosphere. The shop was incredibly cozy. Just a heads up, each person needs to place an order and all they serve is coffee. Had a non coffee drinker join and we had to order a coffee for them. No worries though as now I’m incredibly energized! The two owners were delightful.

I would rate the iced coffee a solid 10/10 made of Indonesian dark roast. It’s a cosy place and the owners are really warm and friendly.
